The 1739 gold Two Guineas of George II is a scarce and significant coin. It features a young laureate head of the king facing left, with the legend "GEORGIVS. II. DEI. GRATIA." surrounding it. A distinctive stop above the centre of the head marks this as the rarest die variety for the young head 1739 issue. The reverse displays a crowned quartered shield of arms with the date flanking the crown and an abbreviated Latin legend. The Latin inscriptions translate to "George II by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg, High Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire." Weighing 16.69g, this coin has been graded XF45 by NGC and shows toning with some flecking and light wear.
